I’ve long been a fan of pincushions and have made my own (and as gifts) for years. Now you can, too, with the Four-Patch Pincushion pattern. There are a few design details that make it unique. The squircle shape comes from the two squares being offset then sewn together to create eight sides. If you’ve seen needlepoint biscornu pincushions, it will be very familiar.
The pincushion also includes a pouch in the base to create a space to add weights. I’ve created bags of weights including glasslets, poly pellets, and walnut shells that work for just one pincushion.
There’s also a bonus on creating your own little emery pouch that can be used to clean your pins (especially helpful if pinning through any glue products.
Because they can be a little tricky to put together, I’ve created a workshop to help you sew along with me. You can get it in addition to the pattern or separately.
When you make one, please tag me @CrinkleDreams so I can see, too!
