Elemental Coat Workshop – 6-hour in-person workshop

This coat pattern was designed by a quilter, for quilters. Using techniques that are already familiar to quilters and avoiding construction methods that can intimidate new (or dormant) garment sewists, this coat is an easy and versatile make that will leave students feeling pleased and proud. We’ll begin by discussing style options: collar/hood, cropped/hip/full length and full/cuffed sleeves, then move on to layout options. Using traced patterns, we’ll show how to decide on the most pleasing layouts for coat pieces and how to make the most of the quilt you’ve got.

Students can use a finished quilt, quilted yardage, pre-quilted fabric or medium-weight yardage (e.g. denim, canvas, corduroy). Class session should be 7 hours, to include a lunch break. Each student must purchase their own pattern and will be provided a supply list prior to class.

Cost: $900/one-day workshop, plus transportation and lodging.
